Science in Action at the JR

Sapphire had a fantastic visit to the JR Hospital, where the children took part in a first aid training session. They learned important life-saving skills, including what to do in an emergency, how to help someone who is injured, and why CPR is so important to keep oxygen flowing around the body and to the brain.

This visit linked really well with our learning for Science Week, as the children were able to see how science is used in medicine every day. We talked about how understanding the human body, especially the heart, lungs and circulatory system, helps doctors and nurses care for their patients. The children also learned how medical equipment is used to check heart rate, breathing and oxygen levels, showing how biology, physics and technology all work together in healthcare.
